Education Programs

Santa Fe Irrigation District is committed to supporting water sustainability educational programs.

Water Awareness Poster and Calendar Contest

Every year the district, in conjunction with other North County water agencies, hosts a poster contest for fourth graders to celebrate “Water Awareness Month.” Fourth grade students in each of the North County water agencies’ service areas submit posters illustrating the importance of water. Three winners selected by the district are eligible to compete in the regional contest against winners from eleven other water agencies and to possibly have their poster appear in a Water Awareness calendar. A limited number of the calendars, displaying the artwork of district and regional winners, are available at the district office.

Splash Sciences Lab

The Splash Science Lab provides students with the opportunity to learn about watershed issues. Students gain a better understanding of how water pollution affects the environment, humans, and wildlife by participating in three stations involving microscopes, water chemistry experiments, interactive watershed models, and more.

School Assemblies

The San Diego County Water Authority, sponsors assembly programs by “Shows That Teach” – specializing in performances which educate and motivate elementary school students. When selecting one of their FREE* school-wide assemblies, please choose the theater program that corresponds with the number of students at your school. They are only able to provide one school-wide assembly per school, per year.
