Joint Facilities project #1750
The Clearwell is a 13 million gallon buried concrete tank located at the R.E. Badger Water Filtration Plant site that stores treated potable water. The tank is 252 feet X 329 feet and its depth varies between 16 and 25 feet. The Clearwell was built in the middle 1960s. This project includes the design and construction of improvements to enhance the facilities ability to withstand seismic events and improve reliability.
In order to improve economy of scale, enhance efficiency, and accommodate the approved Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant funding, the Clearwell Seismic Improvements and Washwater Tank Seismic Improvements Projects are being combined into one design package. Design was initiated in Fiscal Year 2017 and was completed in Fiscal Year 2020. Construction will span between Fiscal Year 2021 and Fiscal Year 2022.
This project will extend the service life of the asset, and bring it into compliance with seismic regulatory requirements.
