Departments
Administrative Services
Provides support services for the District's core functions: the treatment, transmission and distribution of potable water. This department is responsible for finance, accounting, human resources, Board of Directors support, risk management, customer service and technology.
Engineering and Planning
Oversees the Capital Improvement Program, Development Assistance and Geographical Information System. This department is responsible for the efficient and orderly extension of the District's distribution system so that the appropriate level of water service is provided to customers. In-house plan inspection services are provided, as well as a service locator who marks the location of the District's water lines so they aren't damaged during construction.
Operations and Maintenance
Includes distribution system operations and maintenance, valve maintenance, water meter reading, service and maintenance, and facility and equipment maintenance. The O&M staff operates and maintains the District's distribution system, which is a network of pipelines, meters, valves and other water system appurtenances. The staff also operates and maintains the buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment, in addition to providing water conservation and water quality programs.
Water Production and Filtration
Manages the purchase, treatment and delivery of water. The staff operates and maintains the R.E. Badger Filtration Plant, a facility jointly owned by the Santa Fe Irrigation District and the San Dieguito Water District. Raw water is treated at the plant through a 40-million gallon a day (MGD) conventional filtration process.
