Below-average rainfall, low snowmelt runoff and restrictions on water deliveries from northern California mean one thing: water conservation is critical.
On May 21, 2009, the Santa Fe Irrigation District Board of Directors declared a Drought Response Level 2 Condition for the District’s service area.
The declaration institutes mandatory water conservation measures for the District’s residential and business customers, beginning July 1, 2009.

The District's goal is a 6 percent reduction in water use.
